Exercises To Calm Your Anxious Thoughts

If you're struggling with anxiety, give these exercises a go.

Anxiety is a normal emotion that everyone experiences from time to time. But when anxiety starts to interfere with your daily life, it can be a sign of an anxiety disorder. If you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, there are some simple exercises you can do to help calm your thoughts.

One way to calm your anxious thoughts is to focus on your breath. Take a deep breath in through your nose, counting to four as you do. Then, exhale slowly through your mouth, again counting to four. Repeat this process for a few minutes, until you feel your anxiety start to lessen.

Another helpful exercise is to imagine a peaceful scene. Close your eyes and picture yourself in a calm, relaxing place. It could be a beach, a forest, or even your own backyard. focus on the details of the scene, and let your mind wander. This can help to take your mind off of your anxious thoughts.

Finally, try to engage your senses. Notice the sounds around you, the smells in the air, the feel of your clothing against your skin. This can help to ground you in the present moment and calm your anxious thoughts.
